Netball 2024

At Tauranga Girls' College we are very excited about the 2024 Netball season. We have been working really hard to establish a Netball Academy this year.

How it will look-
There will be two sections.

Player Development/ Extension- For Year 9’s and 10’s who are wanting to improve and extend their knowledge and skills. We will have some speakers come to talk and work with the players that will help with Nutrition, Fitness and Sports Psychology throughout the season. We will have knowledgeable coaches set up skill based activities. There will be a slight charge of $20 per student.

SAP/ JDJA (Senior A Premier)/ (Junior Development Junior A)- Compulsory for all Senior A, Premier, Junior Development and Junior A teams. This will include a whole day of Netball with all four teams. All will help each other and create a bond to bring our Juniors and Seniors together. The girls will prepare some kai and parents will be asked to attend. After we have eaten, The juniors will leave and the Senior A and Premier team will stay for a noho at the school. We hope to do this before the season kicks off and in the middle of the season. The girls will also be invited to attend when we have our speakers come and speak with our Player Development/ Extension.

Pre Season Skills and Fitness for every Senior who would like to be considered for the Senior A or Premier Team will be held on Wednesday 14 February afterschool on the outside courts.
If you cannot make a trial for any reason, you will need to inform the TGC Netball coordinator as soon as possible. You need to trial at least once to be put in a competitive team.

All Trials:
You will need to have paid a deposit of $50 towards your fees before you can trial. This $50 will come off the total amount owed. If you cannot do this, please reach out and email [email protected]. Alternatively you can set up a payment plan. If you do this now you should have your $50 paid by trials.

Seniors (Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13)
Senior A and Premier team trial: Saturday 24 February 2024. Registration 2:30, trial 3-5pm.
Callbacks: Sunday 25 February 2024 @ 10-12. Teams will be named via school email on the 28 February @3pm.

These trials are early this year as we will be entering the TGC Premier Team into the Premier Women's Netball grade on a Thursday night at Baypark as extra development for the Premier girls and we need to name the team before grading for this. The Premier Women’s Netball grade starts earlier than the College grades.
If you do not get a callback for our Senior A or Premier teams, you will be expected to come to the competitive senior trials.

Trial for all other Competitive Senior teams: 7 April, registration from 9am, trial @ 9:30am-12. Teams will be named via school email on the 11 April 2024.

TRIAL DATES for anyone who would like to trial for the Junior Development or Junior A: Wednesday 20 March. Registration from 3:30pm. Trials 4-6pm Saturday 23 March 9:30am-11:30am. (Squad naming)

Junior A/Development Registration 2024

If you do not get a callback for our Junior Development or Junior A teams, you will be expected to come to the competitive junior trials.

Trial for all other Competitive Junior teams: Year 9 Saturday 6th April, registration from 8:30am, trial @ 9am-11am. Teams will be named via school email on 11 April 2024.

ALL students who trial for a competitive team will be placed in a team according to their ability. All junior trials will be on the outside courts. All trials are closed to parents. All selectors' decisions will be final.

All ages Social Teams
Please be mindful that you will still be playing at a fairly competitive level and will need to be respectful towards other schools. There is no trial process for our social teams for 2024. Please register your interest and we will put you in a team, alternatively if you have a group of friends who wish to play together please use the team form available at the sports office after you have completed your online registration. You will need to provide an Umpire for your team and you will need to have either an adult Coach or Manager that needs to be at the game each week.

All Teams (Social and Competitive) need to attend grading at TNC.
All fees need to be paid before you will be issued a uniform. If you need to set up a payment plan for your fees, you will need to do this when you register. If you need help with your fees, please apply to the sports equity fund by emailing [email protected]
